Thomas Wentworth (1st Earl Of Strafford/Black Tom Tyrant)

• 1625-1628 - Yorkshire MP 1628- Appointed President of Council of North
• 1632- Became Lord Deputy of Ireland1639- Summoned back to England and supported the recall of Parliament
• Leading critic of Charles I and one of the 'Northern men' critical of Buckingham
• Arrested for not paying the forced loan in 1627
• 1640- Arrested by Parliament as an 'evil councillor' Impeached and tried. Executed in May 1641
