  • Jesus was born in Bethlehem to the Virgin Mary. Jesus was born, raised and died as a Jew. He had to flee the town as King Herod wanted all male children under the age of 2 to be killed. Jesus began ministry at age 30, When He was baptised by John the Baptist in the Jordan river. After that the Holy Spirit descended on him. He spent three years of his life preaching the gospel, healing the sick and performing miracles.
  • Jesus was arrested in Jerusalem tried for heresy and sentenced to death by crucifixion on Good Friday. Jesus rose from the dead on Easter Sunday and appeared to the disciples. Historical documents and religious text support the facts that I mentioned. The Jewish historian Josephus describe Jesus as a wise teacher who performed miracles. Josephus wrote about Jesus’s death by crucifixion and his resurrection three days later. The Roman historian Tacitus claimed that Romans believed that Jesus was a troublemaker. He wrote about Jesus‘ crucifixion and how Christians got their name from Jesus.
  • The gospels are religious texts that support what I mentioned earlier. The gospels consist of four books; Matthew Mark Luke and John these books recount Jesus‘ life, the miracles he preformed, the healing of the sick and parables. (short and meaning full stories that have a spiritual and moral meaning).
  • Saint Patrick is a significant figure in Christianity in Ireland because he brought Christianly to Ireland. He changed the Irish from pagans to Christians. Saint Patrick’s teachings can be seen in the Irish language, some Irish words have Christian meanings and images. Dia duit means God be with you. He also helped Irish people understand how God is 3 in one using the Shamrock. Each leaf represents something; one represents God the Father God the son of God the Holy Spirit. Saint Patrick significantly impacted Ireland, because of his impact he celebrated every March 17th.
  • Father Peter McVerry is known for his tireless work with the homeless. His life is based on the Gospel values because he showed compassion by helping disadvantaged communities. He refused to accept young people to live a life of poverty and squalor. In 1983 he started a campaign known as the peter McVerry Trust. His campaign provides shelter for young homeless people,in order to avoid them from being cold and alone on the street.
  • Father Peter McVerry’s work and life embodied Christ, Jesus cared for the poor and needy and Father Peter McVerry did so too. He cared so much about the lives of young people that he set up a campaign and Irish people supported the campaign. His campaign also address drug issues and crime issues. Volunteers that work in this campaign work in homeless units that offer medical services. These services are very helpful because a lot of them are in need of financial assistance.
