• Cnut married Emma of Normandy [sister of Duke of Normandy, widow of Aethelred].
• Emma united the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons when she married Aethelred, but for Cnut she helped him forge his way in England.
• Emma brought land to her marriage with Cnut [expanding the North Sea Empire].
• Emma proved to be a strong leader who was respected and listened to when Cnut travelled.
• Emma improved relations with the Church and helped bring peace to England. She was also very good with money.
• 2 of Emma's children [Edward, son of Aethelred and Harthacnut, her son with Cnut] became Kings of England.
