Resurrection

Cards (5)

  • B- In the New Testament, it is believed that God raised Jesus from the dead three days after his crucifixtion, emphasising that this is an example of why Christians should believe in Jesus is because it gives evidence that Jesus is the Son of God, therefore they should believe in him.
E- Jesus says "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die."
E-Therefore this illustrates that death is not the end and the importance of Jesus. Also, this is why Christians celebrate Jesus' crucifixtion on Easter Sunday.
  • B-If the resurrection has not happened on Easter Sunday then your Christian faith is meaningless and you are sinful.
E-St Paul says "If Christ has not been raised, your faith is useless and you are still living in your sins"
E-Therefore, Jesus' resurrection shows him overcoming sin and death, brought into the world by Adam and Eve.
  • B- Many Christians believe their faith in Jesus means they will also be resurrected after death, either as physical or spiritual bodies.
E- St Paul says "since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him."
E- Therefore, this gives hope that death is not the end.
  • B- Paul argues that if there is no resurrection, then there is no resurrection, then there is no point to Christianity:people die and that is the end of it.
E-"If the dead are not raised, let us eat and drink, for tommorow we die."
E- Paul is emphatic that Jesus did overcome death; or rather he was raised from the dead by God the Father.
  • B- Paul says that it was a human being- Adam, who broke God's trust and brought sin and death into the world at the Fall, when him and Eve ate the fruit that God had forbidden,
E-The Bible states: "For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man"
E-Therefore, only a human being can renew the relationship with God and overcome death.
