‘Nociceptive back pain is pain that is evoked by noxious stimulation to any structure in spine’ (Bogduk, 2009)
Could be a noxious stimuli to any structure in the lumbar spine:
Can cause low back pain
With or without referred pain
And/or other signs and symptoms
Example: OA/spondylosis, facet joint strain, mild/low levels of IDD or Disc Bulge with no neuro (chemical irritation from associated inflammation)
referred pain / signs and symptoms depend on which structures are affected - if its gone all the way to affect the nerve/nerve root
