male reproductive system

• the male reproductive system is made up of the testes, prostate gland, scrotum, sperm duct, urethra and the penis
• the testes produce the sperm cells also known as sex cells

  they also produce/release testosterone
• the prostate gland produce some of the seminal fluid that the sperm swims in
• the scrotum supports the testes outside the body cavity and allows the testes to stay below body temperature
• the sperm duct is a passage for sperm
• the urethra is the passage of both sperm and urine
• the penis deposits sperm at the CEVIX
• adaptive features of sperm

  • has a flagellum(tail) to swim
  • has a mitochondria which gives energy to swim
  • has enzymes in the acrosome which digest the walls of the egg
• the acrosome help the sperm get past the eggs protective wall
