water on earth

Cards (12)

    • fresh water = 0.33%
    • inaccessible fresh water = 2.67%
    • saline water = 97%
  • water will be available only at the places where the pores in the rocks are inner connected. this is due to the fact that water can move easily through these pores. this duality of rocks is known as permeability.
  • the abundance of water is because of the fact that all the pores in the zone are filled with water. the surface of the water rich part beneath the ground is known as water table.
  • the water stored beneath the water table is known as "underground water".
  • filter point well- the term filter point well is used for swallow tube wells dug in the sandy region.
  • Artificial wells- water will rise to the surface automatically due to the pressure if we dig to this permeable rock layers. such wells were known as artificial wells
  • at some places these will have regular flow while it dries up at many instance soon after the end of rainy season. water will flow out along the surface wherever water touches the ground. this is known as spring.
  • at some places such water flows out are characterized with hot water. these are known as hot spring
  • the phenomenon of sever ejection of water from within the earth at regular intervals is known as geysers.
eg:- yellow stone national park , USA
  • some ways of water pollution
    • urbanization
    • deforestation
    • sewage
    • toxic chemical etc
  • how can we preserve water?
    • conservation of wet land
    • protection of forest
    • terrace farming
    • construction of mud well
  • imp of water conservation?
soil is the largest store house of the water. allowing each drop of water to percolate at the place where it falls is the basic principle in water conservation
