• The British and French pursued a policy of Appeasement in hopes of preventing a war with Hitler which resulted in an increasingly antagonistic Germany
• Blitzkrieg was Germany's invasion of France and Belgium
• The Battle of Dunkirk was a pivotal World War II evacuation operation in 1940, where British and Allied forces successfully evacuated over 300,000 troops from the beaches of Dunkirk, France, to England, preventing their capture by the advancing German army
