Parts of polygraph

Cards (44)

  • Analog polygraph
In an analog polygraph, the displaced air acts on a bellows, an accordionlike device that contracts when the tubes
expand. This bellows is attached to a mechanical arm, which is connected to an ink-filled pen that makes marks on the scrolling paper when the subject takes a breath.
  • COMPUTERIZED POLYGRAPH
Polygraph is one kind of electronic instrument, which record the changes of many physiological parameters such as skin conductance, respiration, finger pulses and cardiovascular, etc. it can be used to research and detect the tested person's psychology behavior.
  • FOUR MAJOR COMPONENTS OF POLYGRAPH
    1. CARDIOSPHYGMOGRAPH COMPONENT 2. PNEUMOGRAPH COMPONENT 3. GALVANOGRAPH COMPONENT 4. KYMOGRAPH COMPONENT
  • CARDIOSPHYGMOGRAP H COMPONENT
it was designed to detect changes in the blood pressure and pulse rate of the subject • it can record changes of systolic blood pressure and pulse rate of the subject
  • Blood pressure cuff
which is attached to the upper right arm of the subject, slightly above the brachial artery.
  • Sphygmomanometer
which is utilized to indicate the amount of air pressure inflated in the system.
  • Pump bulb assembly
which is inflates air into the system, also known as an air pump it has a hose connecting the blood pressure the recording pen.
  • Resonance control unit
which is used for reducing or increasing the amount of air pressure to reach the brass bellows and thus reduce or increase the amplitude of pen excursions.
  • Centering control
which is used to provide adjustment of the tracing so that the composite records pattern would be on the guideline.
  • Vent
provide the means by which air in the system can be released.
  • Recording pen unit
which is used to record the blood pressure, pulse rate changes on the chart paper by means of five inch recording pen.
  • GALVANOGRAPH COMPONENT
its primary function is to detect changes of alterations in skin resistance of the subject
  • Finger electrode assembly
which has a finger electrode plate and retainer bond attached to the left index and ring finger of the subject and a connecting plug designed to fasten the system to the polygraph machine.
  • Recording pen unit
which usually seven inches in length.
  • Amplifier unit
the galvanometer in converting electrical to mechanical current.
  • PNEUMOGRAPH COMPONENT
it is designed to detect changes of respiration of the subject  its major components are the pneumograph chest assembly and recording unit.
  • Rubber convoluted tube
which is ten inches in length corrugated rubber attached to the chest and abdominal area of the subject.
  • Pen Lifter
raises or lower pens to 3 position
  • Program Pacer
a programmable cueing device for question and answer spacing
  • Paper Tear Bar
provides cutting edge for convenient removal of charts.
  • Foam Pen Hold Down
keeps pens in place when instrument is being transported.
  • Attached Compartment
storage for all forms and supplies. Slightly smaller in Executive Ultra Scribe.
  • Accessory Storage & Optional Calibration Checking Fixture
Slightly smaller in Executive Ultra Scribe.
  • Subject Connections
stylish grouping provides neat, professional appearance. Facilitates set – up and storage.
  • Mechanical Pneumo Module
recording part of Mechanical Pneumo channel
  • GSR Module
    recording part of GSR channel.
  • Mechanical Cardio Module
recording part of mechanical Cardio Module.
  • Paper Storage Compartment
holds two spare rolls of chart paper or other supplies.
  • AC Power Receptacle
    power cords connects here
  • Power Switch and Circuit Breaker
applies power to instrument built-in reset table circuit breaker protects instrument and eliminates need for fuses. To re-set, simply press “ off “and then “on” again.
  • Chart Drive Roller Lever
lifts chart drive roller for proper changes and chart removal.
  • Power Analyzer
automatically indicates whether wall outlets is properly wired and grounded for proper instrument operation and subject safety.
  • Stimulus Marker
marks significant events on the chart.
  • Sphygmomanometer Dial
reads operating pressure of cardio channels.
  • Pneumo 1
pneumatic connection for upper (throracic) Pneumograph. Not connected in instrument with only one Pneumo channel.
  • Pneumo 2
    pneumatic connection lower (abdominal) pneumograph.
  • Cuff
pneumatic connection for cardio channel subject cuff tubing.
  • Pump
pneumatic connection for hand pump used to inflate subject cuff.
  • Mechanical Cardio Switch
disengages mechanical cardio module from pneumatic system for low pressure electronic cardio operation
  • Multi- Function Module – selectable recording module. Can be used as:
    1. Electronic Pneumo Channel
    2. Electronic Cardio Channel
    3. Cardio Activity Monitor (CAM)
    4. Cardio Tech, or other accessories
