  • It is the way our behaviour presents when exposed to phobic stimulus or irrational fear. One behavioural characteristic is panicking in the presence of the phobic stimulus; it can include crying or running away. Another is avoidance and it is when the person avoids the presence of the phobic stimulus and will do anything to prevent contact from the phobic stimulus, making it hard to go about everyday life. Final characteristic is endurance and it is when a person chooses to remain in the presence of a phobic stimulus.
  • It is the way a person feels emotionally when exposed to a phobic stimulus or irrational fear. One emotional characteristic is anxiety in the presence of the phobic stimulus. Theory can feel it emotionally,or an unpleasant state of arousal. It makes it very difficult for a person to feel any positive emotion. Another is fear and it is when the person is exposed to the phobic stimulus and they have an unpleasant response. It is more intense than anxiety but lasts for shorter periods. Final characteristic is that the emotional response is unreasonable.
  • It is the process that a person goes through when exposed to phobic stimulus or irrational fear. One characteristic nis irrational beliefs and it is when a person holds unfounded beliefs of a phobic stimulus. Another characteristic when a person has selective attention around the phobic stimulus, and it can be very hard to shift focus from the phonic stimulus to another object due to the feeling of threat and harm. Final characteristic is cognitive distortions when the person has an inaccurate and unrealistic perception of the phobic stimulus.
