Crown Prosecution Service

• The CPS are independent from the government and carry out various functions: advise police regarding investigations, assess evidence and decide whether to prosecute (Full Code Test) and prepare and present the prosecution case in court.
• The CPS is in place to prevent the government from prosecuting innocent people for personal pain. They also ensure that the trial isn’t biased from the Police; they may take part in investigating sensitive cases and grow a rapport with the victim.
