Tradition and Internalisation of Culture (Socialisation)

• Believes culture is part of our identity & may involve particular moral viewpoints.
• Socialisation is about learning the correct way to behave in society.

  • primary socialisation - involves the socialisation between a parent → child ; this promotes norms and values
  • secondary socialisation - where wider society promotes norms and values

  This leads to the internalisation of rules and morality.
• We believe in the ideas as right in themselves - we don't blindly obey. We think controlling ourselves is the right thing to do and we’re socialised into this behaviour from birth so we develop a rational ideology.
