  • Testes -sex glands, responsible for making sperms and secrete testosterone, primary sex hurmune
  • seminiferous tubules -coiled tubes, responsible for producing sperm cells.
  • Epididymis -6m coiled tube found on the backside of each testis. transports and stores sperm cells produced by the testis.
  • Vas Deferens -long muscular tube that extends from the epididymis upward to scrotum. located just behind the urinary bladder. transports the mature sperm to the urethra through peristalsis
  • Ejaculatory Duct -formed by the merger of the vas deferens and seminal vesicle. forces the sperm cells and fund from the seminal vesicle into the urethra
  • Urethra -thin-walled tube that extends from the urinary bladder to the end of the penis.
  • Seminal Vesicles -sac-like pouches That attach to the vas deferens. secretes an alkaline fluid that helps regulate the pH of the semen. contains fructose as an energy source of sperm
  • Prostate gland -doughnut shape gland that is located below the urinary bladder in front of the rectum.
  • Bulbourethral Gland -2 small spherical glands that are located below the prostate gland. Cowper's gland
  • Scrotum -external sac of skin that contains the testes.
  • Penis -external part of the male reproductive organ that leads the puid and sperm outside the body.
  • Ejaculation -regulated by the autonomous nervous stem, it's not voluntary
  • Ovaries -primary sex organs of a female. located in the upper portions of the pelvic cavity they secrete progesterone and estrogen
  • Fallopian tubes -uterine tubes or oviducts. extends from the uterus to the ovary. The end of the fallopian tube looks like a funnel that partially envelops the ovary, but is not connected to it
  • Fimbriae -fingerlike structure that may touch the ovary.
  • Uterus -hollow organ with thick muscular walls
  • Cervix -lower portion of the uterus that is inserted into the upper end of vagina
  • Body -upper portion that juins the fallopian tubes.
  • Endometrium -layer w/ mucus that lines the interior of the uterus..
  • Myometrium -thick layer of muscles that forms the wall thickness.
  • Perimetrium -thin layer that lines the exterior of the uterus
  • Vagina -Collapsible tube that extends from the uterus to the exterior. serves as the birth canal.
  • Ovulation -when a follicle is completely mature, it releases an egg.
