RESOLUTION
o used (inconsistently) for number of pixels on screen (width x height) (DPI)
ASPECT RATIO

• softens edges by using shades of line color • also used for text

Cathode Ray Tube
• used in TVs and computer monitors. • X-rays: largely absorbed by screen
Liquid Crystal Displays
• Smaller, lighter, and … no radiation problems. Commonly referred to as flat-panel displays.
Direct view storage tube
(DVST) • Similar to random scan but persistent => no flicker
Random Scan Display
• draw the lines to be displayed directly • rarely used except in special instruments
