    • fill eureka can with water to rim
    • object will displace water from beaker
    • volume of water displace = volume of object
    • density = mass/volume
  • Density of a liquid
    • Place measuring cylinder on mass balance
    • pour out 5cm cubes of liquid into cylinder
    • record mass change
    • density=mass/volume
    • repeat steps 2-4 and calculate average
  • Insulation
    • wrap the same thickness of different materials around beakers
    • pour in boiling water, the same volume for each beaker
    • measure initial temperature for each beaker using a thermometer
    • start stopwatch and record temp every 2 minutes until 10 minutes has passed
    • use a lid to minimise heat loss
