Biodiversity of Animals

• Kingdom Animalia can be divided into two main groups:

  1. Invertebrates- Animals without a vertebral column
  2. Vertebrates- Animals with a vertebral column
• Phylum Porifera (Sponges) - Simple animals that live attached to surfaces, have no body cavity or organs, and are composed of many cells joined together by jellylike material.
