    • the eye focuses light onto the retina by changing the shape of the lens. a process known as accomodation
    • to look at distant objects, the cilliary muscles relax, which pulls the suspensory ligaments, making the lens thin out and refracting the light by a smaller amount
    • people with hyperopia are unable to focus on objects near them
    • hyperopia is caused when the eyeball is too short or the lens is not curved enough.
    • myopia is where people can't see far away because their eyes are too long or the lenses are too curved.
    • hyperopia can be treated with convex lenses
    • myopia can be treated with concave lenses
