the eye and correcting vision defects

Cards (7)

  • the eye focuses light onto the retina by changing the shape of the lens. a process known as accomodation
  • to look at distant objects, the cilliary muscles relax, which pulls the suspensory ligaments, making the lens thin out and refracting the light by a smaller amount
  • people with hyperopia are unable to focus on objects near them
  • hyperopia is caused when the eyeball is too short or the lens is not curved enough.
  • myopia is where people can't see far away because their eyes are too long or the lenses are too curved.
  • hyperopia can be treated with convex lenses
  • myopia can be treated with concave lenses
