  • The Greek word Parousia, meaning "presence" or "coming," refers to the Christian belief that Jesus will come again as a divine judge.
  • Jesus' second coming is also referred to and pictured out by many as the "second coming" or the "judgment day" because it will be the time when every person will be measured and judged according to his/her conduct here on earth.
  • The spiritual and corporal works of mercy are concrete ways on how we can prepare for the coming of Christ.
  • The works of mercy are charitable actions by which we come to the aid of our neighbor in his spiritual and bodily necessities. Instructing, advising, consoling, and comforting are spiritual works of mercy, as are forgiving and bearing wrongs patiently.
  • The corporal works of mercy consist especially in feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and imprisoned, and burying the dead
