selective breeding

• selective breeding is when humans artificially select the plants or animals that they are going to breed so that the genes for particular characteristics remain in the population

• reducing the gene pool can be catastrophic as it can lead to the extinction of a species
• breeding of animals that are closely related is called inbreeding, and it can lead to genetic disorders
