  • Evolution is the process by which modern organism have descended from ancient organism. This process has led to incredible diversity of life.

    • A scientist that worked on understanding how an organism have changed over time and show relatedness
    • Lamarck thought that if an organism used or didn't use organs or body parts, organisms could gain or lose those traits during their lifetime.
    • If an animal acquired a particular trait in its lifetime, that trait would be passed on to its offspring and would lead to change in a species.
    • He didn't know that traits were inherited by genes from parents - his ideas were flawed
