Stage 2

• Stage 2 - Preoperational stage
• 2 to 7 years
• Children will start school and continue to develop their skills
• Child unable to CONSERVE
• Animism

  the child treats inanimate objects as if they too are alive and have feelings
• Reversibility

  a child at this stage is unable to think about things in reverse order. They also fail to understand that if you add or take something away from an object that you can return it to its original state.
• Child is egocentric 


  seeing and thinking of the world only from your point of view, unable to understand the world from another’s perspective (e.g. a lack of empathy). This is supported by Piaget’s three mountains experiment.
