RP- Effect of a factor on human reaction time

• Sample Method:

  1.Experimenter holds a meter ruler from the end

  2.The subject has their finger and thumb on each side of the ruler at the 50cm line

  3.Experimenter lets go of the ruler and the subject has to catch it

  4.Measure the distance the ruler has travelled from the 50cm line

  5.Repeat on a subject which has just drank cola
• Considerations, Mistakes and Errors:

  -Very difficult to control the variables

  -Large numbers of subjects need to be tested and averages taken to get reliable results
• Variables:

  Independent: Wether the subject has had caffeine or not

  Dependent: Distance the ruler travelled

  Control: Age, sex and mass of the subjects
• Hazards and Risks:

  -Limited risks
