RP- Effect of light on growth of newly germinated shoots

• Sample Method:


  1.Take a small number of plastic boxes and make a hole on one side, hole must be same size on each

  2.Put some soil in the containers and plant 10 cress seeds in each

  3.Put a lid on each container

  4.Put the containers in even lighting, with holes pointing in different directions

  5.Water the soil and leave for several days
• Considerations, Mistakes and Errors:

  -Make sure room is evenly lit with no windows

  -The holes in containers are positions in different directions to show that only light entering is causing the shoots to bend
• Variables:

  Independent: Position of the hole

  Dependent:The direction which the seedlings grow

  Control: Number and type of seeds, soil type, volume of water
• Hazards and Risks:
