  Damage to the marine ecosystem by motorboats - affects coral reefs, animals, etc
• Cultural problems: Negative impact on locals and their culture. Karen people - 'human zoo'. Thai/burmese women that are long-necked who are on display. They earn a reasonable income from this.
• Pros:

  • Less unemployment

  • Tourists spend money on local businesses

  • Encourages locals to stay in the country

  Cons:

  • Jobs are usually seasonal and can easily be replaced by foreigners

  • Tourists pollute the area often

  • Prices increase (restaurants, hotels, etc)
