Mitosis

• Mitosis is a type of cell division can create new cells for growth,replacing old or damaged cells to repair body
• Interphase part of cell cylcd happens before mitosis

  -The DNA is replicated
• In prophase membrane of cells nucleus breaks down and chromosomes condense
• In metaphase chromosomes line up along centre of cell
• In anaphase the pairs of identical chromosomes separate and move to opposite sides of the cell
• In telophase new membranes form around each set of chromosomes
• In cytokinesis the cytoplasm and cell membrane divide to give 2 new cells
• 2 Daughter cells produced in mitosis are genetically identical to parent cell and are diploid cells
• Cancer is when cells keep dividing this can cause tumors and spread
