t lymphocytes surface is covered with receptors which bind to antigens presented by APCs
each t lymphocyte has a unique receptor and when it meets a complimentary antigen it binds to it. this process activates the T lymphocyte and is known as clonal selection
once activated the t lymphocyte undergoes clonal expansion - divides to produce clones
t helper cells
release substances to release b lymphocytes and t killer cells
t killer cells
attach to and kill cells that are infected with a virus
T regulatory cells
supress the immune response from other White blood cells. Helps to stop immune system cells from attacking hosts own body cells
