• Cost of education?


  • Cost of transport/equipments like books , pen is too much on the working-class
  • can’t afford the private tuition
  • Some students work - less time to study in school
  • No uniform- less self-concept- don’t feel like going to school due to bullying
• Material deprivation : foreign qualifications?

  • Grade scheme / paper are difference in their countries
  • Going to a different country lead to them not achieving as they don not known these qualifications
  • Lead to lower paid jobs

  • Wood - CV studies on w/c ethnic people = shown they are less likely to get a call back for interviews
  • White dominant jobs won’t accepts other ethnic groups form stereotypical views
• material deprivation: living in deprivated area?

  • ethnic groups who are w/c would living in poor areas
  • They can have illness and health problems from it
  • Lead to them not going to schools = less acheviement
• Cultural deprivation: family structure?

  • LPFs are popular in black Caribbean family’s
  • Boys have no role models therefore have a laddish cultures for gangs etc
  • Lead to boys having juvenile dequliency and not doing well

  • Asian parents are more empathic on education
  • Push there children more to do well in education
  • lead to Asian overachievers in education
