MINOR BLOOD GROUP SYSTEM

• Diego Blood Group system • Used as a tool in anthropologic studies of Mongolian ancestry • Located in the anion exchange protein (AE-1), also known as the erythrocyte band 3, which is an integral transport protein involved in the anion exchange of bicarbonate for chloride in RBC membrane. • Mutation in AE-1 results to hereditary spherocytosis, congenital acanthocytosis and Southeast Asian Ovalocytosis.
• Cartwright Blood System • Yta and Ytb; found in acetylcholinesterase
• Xg Blood Group System • Located in the short arm of X chromosome; destroyed by enzyme treatment
• Scianna Blood Group System • Antigens are expressed by the RBC adhesion protein ERMAP in humans
• Dombrock Blood Group System • Total absence of Dombrock (DO) antigens are observed in RBCs of patients with PNH III (Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria)
• Colton blood group system • Found in aquaporin-1 (AQP)
• Chido/ Rodgers Blood Group System • Found inC4 complement components.
• Gerbich Blood Group System • Found on glycophorin C and D which are associated with RBC membrane band 4.1 • Leach phenotype (GE:-2,-3,-4) presents with elliptocytosis.
• Cromer blood group system • Found in decay-accelerating factor (daf or cd55) • Total absence of Cromer antigen is observed in PNH
• KNOPS BLOOD GROUP SYSTEM • FOUND ON COMPLEMENT RECEPTOR 1(CR1 OR CD35 • DECREASED EXPRESSION IN CASES OF SLE AND CHRONIC COLD AGGLUTINATION
