  • To convert a mixed number to an improper fraction, multiply the whole number by the denominator and add the numerator, then keep the same denominator
  • To convert an improper fraction back to a mixed number, divide the numerator by the denominator to get the whole number part, and the remainder becomes the numerator of the fractional part
  • When simplifying a mixed number, look to see if the fractional part can be reduced to its simplest form
