Probability Distribution

Cards (3)

  • Properties of Probability Distribution
    • the probability of each value of the random value must be between 0 or 1, or equal to any of them. It should be 0 ≤ P(x) ≤ 1.
    • the sum of all the probabilities of random variables must be equal to 1. As such, ∑P(x) = 1
  • Creating a Property Distribution Table
    1. List the sample space.
    2. Count the number of values of the random variable.
    3. Get the frequency of the values.
    4. Construct the probability of the random variable.
    5. Construct a probability histogram. (Probabilites are placed on the y-axis, whilst the x-axis are the values of random variables).
  • Discrete Distribution
    • is also known as "Probability Mass Function."
    • consists of the values of a random variable that can be assumed as well as the corresponding probabilities of said values.
