Chromatography

• Chromatography is used to separate mixtures of different soluble substances.
• The more soluble a substance is the further it moves up the paper
• Steps of paper chromatography

  1. A pencil line is drawn near bottom of paper
  2. When paper is placed a little bit in water the solvent moves up the paper and carries the dye with it
• Patterns on the paper is called chromatography
