    1. Easy to build roads and settlements.
    2. Good for agriculture (farming) because the soil is fertile, due to alluvium (fine silt and mud) deposited by the river.
    3. River valleys are natural routeways.
    4. Rivers may be navigable, allowing transport and trade.
    • Provide drinking water and fish for food.
  • Disadvantages:
    • Rivers carry sicknesses
    • Liable to Flooding
    • Destroy properties because of erosion of outerbanks.
