Cards (2)

  • Process of translation
    1. Ribosome attaches to 2 codons on the mRNA
    2. tRNA anticodons bind to complementary codons forming hydrogen bonds
    3. peptide bond forms between amino acids at the top of the tRNA
    4. Active process -> needs ATP to activate amino acids
    5. Ribosomes moves along one codon
    6. First tRNA leaves to bind to a new amino acid
    7. Third tRNA binds to the complementary third codon
    8. Repeat steps 3-7 until STOP codon has been reached and the release factor binds
  • Polysomes are when several ribosomes work on the same mRNA molecule
