Scene 1

• We are introduced to a group of neighbours in a poor region of New Orleans
• Blanche, Stella’s sister, arrives contrasting greatly with the other characters, she seems to be extremely anxious
• She talks over Stella constantly and we find out that their family home Belle Reve has been lost
• Stella’s husbands arrives and questions Blanche about her late husband.
