perception surveys
labelled photographs: up to date!
| secondary data
old photographs
old maps
both have good environmental qualities but riverside scored highest in the survey
little traffic in both areas due to being pedestrianised but riverside has less people
CBD was louder
main differences are due to land value
CBD has large chain stores that can afford higher rents
lower rents in inner city means more room for residential & retail parks
historical factors influence the nature too
CBDalways been commercial & civic centred; route centre for trade
riversideused to be an industrial area; since deindustrialisation, it's been developed for residential & retail places

PROS
able to visit area & collect primary data
collected a range of data
CONS
equipment was new so human error is possible BUT to overcome this, we took several readings to work out an average
sound recordings could have been influenced by us talking
land use can't always easily be identified just by the looks
only visited once
key needs to be changed to include religious buildings
