Breaking down large molecules Into smallersoluble molecules
Protein digestion begins in the stomach. It is broken down by Protease or pepsin into amino acids
Starch digestion begins in the mouth. It is broken down by amalayse into maltose and then into glucose.
Lipid digestion begins in the Small intestine. It is broken down by lipase into fatty acids and glycerol.
Bile is produced by the liver. It emmulsifies fat, increasing the surfacearea to allow for faster digestion as more contact is made between the lipids and lipase.
Bile neutralises acid from the stomach, which maintains optimum PH for the Small Intestine, allowing the enzymes to work best.
