infrared radiation

• all objects are continually emitted infrared radiation but the hotter the object is the more infrared radiation it radiates in a given time
• objects at a constant temperature emit infrared radiation at the same rate at which they are absorbing it
• you can investigate emission with a Leslie cube
• the Leslie cube which has vertical faces with different surfaces

  to measure the infrared emission u add boiling water to the cube which is on a heat proof mat and use a detector the record the amount on each of the faces making sure its the same distance away
