The Ontological arguments rely on having an agreed definition of God but we cannot know fully what God’s essence is and even if we did we could never be certain that we had got it right.
Thomas Aquinas, despite being a theist thought this is why an a priori argument could never prove God’s existence.
Aquinas said the only way to prove God’s existence is to search for A posteriori evidence
