the nervous system is made up of the CNS (Central Nervous System) and the PNS (Peripheral Nervous System)
the CNS (Central Nervous System) is made up of the brain and spinal cord
the PNS (Peripheral Nervous System) is made up of the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system [which then make up the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions]

the area of response in the nervous system is localised
the nervous system controls things like reflexes (e.g. blinking)
