    • Mitigation - measures that eliminate or reduce the impacts and risks of hazards through proactive measures taken before a disaster occurs.
    • Prevention – preventing the hazard or impacts from happening in the first place. 
    Adaptation - adjustments made by a society that enhance their ability to cope with hazards when they occur.

    • Maintain irrigated greenbelt
    • Clean roof and gutters
    • Prune branches to 10ft above the ground
  • Mitigation
    • Leaving fire breaks in forested areas/using natural fire breaks
    • Deliberate burning of material ahead of the fire
    • Early detection is crucial – use of satellites to track new fires
  • Prevention
    • Public awareness – especially in campsites and other public areas
    • Controlled burning in areas at high risk of wildfires
  • Adaptation
    • Building/planning regulations to include use of fire resistant materials
