Role of political parties: Recruit and promote candidates
Political parties have a responsibility to recruit candidates and members of their party in order to have the most influence. This is so they can reach as many people and represent more people.
A manifesto is a list of policies and promises that a party make and set out in a document to outline what they plan to do before an election. The aim of this is to give citizens the opportunity to read and decide if those policies are something they agree with and therefore would vote for.
This is when political parties would raise awareness for their party and policy plans via the use of the media, leafleting, canvassing and party political broadcasts. This is the party's opportunity to let people know their policy plans and gain voters via their campaign. The hope is that they may reach as many potential voters as possible and gain additional votes.
