Way MSPs work in constituency: Attend local events
It is important as a constituency MSP to show your support for local events. Whether this be the opening of a new business or a new voluntary service, it is vital that an MSP shows they care about the local community.
One duty of an MSP is for them to listen to constituents problems, answer questions and proceed as appropriate. A constituent may contact their MSP either in person, via email or phone, by letter or by visiting them in their surgery.
An MSP will usually visit different areas of their constituency to hold open advice clinics known as surgeries- these are usually scheduled at a fixed time once a week, fortnightly or monthly. This gives people the opportunity to ask questions or raise concerns about problems in their constituency.
