• Historically women in the USA have been viewed as inferior to men and as something the needed to be controlled

  Could be why 13% of Women are in poverty compared to 11% of Men
• LGBT people in the USA continue to experience a lot of restrictions as many states have put into law that it is acceptable to refuse service to, or fire people who are LGBT
• Homophobia and transphobia


  Could be why LGBT+ people have a poverty rate of 22% compared to 16% for non-LGBT people
• Some groups such as ethnic minorities are less likely to get a degree than Whites
