• procederal memory - stores the knowledge of how to do things such as walking - info cannot be consciously recalled
• sperling - duration of memory
• peterson and peterson - duration of stm - stm has a duration of 18s
• bahrick - duration of ltm is a lifetime
• jacobs - capacity of stm - 9 digits and 7 letters
• miller - capacity of stm is 7 +/- 2
• miller - chunking can be used to combine individual letters and increase recall
• baddely - stm is acoustic and ltm is semantic
