- The aim of investigating osmosis is - to investigate the effect of different sucrose concentrations on the mass of potato tissue

- cork borer
- cutting board
- knife
- ruler
- scale
- different concentrations of sucrose
- boiling tubes

- Method to investigate osmosis:
- use the cork borer to make potato cylinders trim them to about 30mm (make sure they are all same length)
- Fill each boiling tube 2/3 with different sucrose solutions
- dry the outside of a potato cylinder with a paper towel then measure and record its mass add it to one of the solutions
- repeat step 3 for different solutions
- after about 30 minutes remove each potato cylinder dry them and record their mass
