opportunity sample

Cards (2)

  • opportunity sample is where a researcher identifies the target population of the experiment they are wanting to conduct, and then takes anyone  available from that population who is willing to participate within the experiment.
    How to obtain/ collect:
They do this by asking anyone available at the time the experiment is going to be conducted.
  • oppurtunity sample Strengths:
Participants are engaged with the experiment, so are interested so will complete the experiment to the best of their ability.
    Limitations:
Participants are willing to participate with the experiment, so their behaviour could be influenced by the researcher, therefore the results would be less valid as the researcher is getting what they want, so the research is not accurately completed.  Also researchers are able to choose who they would like in the experiment based on their looks creating researcher bias.
