stratified sample is where target population divided into sub groups and a proportion out of the sub groups are taken to represent
How to obtain/ collect:
Say there are 100 people overall in the group and there are 8 people in one of the subgroups. You work out the percentage of people in that subgroup, and how many would need to be taken out of there to become part of the sample.
stratified sample Strengths:
Produced a representative sample as the sample of each sub group accurately reflects the composition of the group therefore generalisation becomes possible.
Limitations:
It is unable to reflect all characteristics of everyone taking part so complete representation is not possible.
