11 - Good and Evil

• Moral Evil - When suffering is caused by other people
• Natural Evil - When suffering is caused by nature
• Good and Evil

  What makes an action good or evil depends on 2 things -

  • Intention - What was the motivation behind the action? If it is to help others it is good. If it is to hurt others, it is bad
  • Free Will - Is the person freely choosing their action? Free will makes our actions good or bad, as if we don't have a choice, we don't have responsibility
• Natural Evil -

  • Includes tsunamis, earthquakes and floods
  • Nobody is responsible
• Moral Evil -

  • Moral evil can be accidental or deliberate
  • Includes theft, murder and unkind words
