      • The Reichstag fire on 1933 gave the Nazis an excuse to create a dictatorship. Hitler suspended the fundamental laws after the fire at the Reichstag
      • Hitler used Article 48 to govern. This meant he took power from the president. One man rule
      • Hitler passed the Enabling Act which made all other political parties apart from the Nazis illegal
      • Hitler banned all Trade Unions and opposition parties under the Enabling Act
      • The army swore an oath of loyalty to Hitler
      • The Nazis used fear and intimidation from SS against opponents
      • The Night of the Long Knives led to Hitler killing all opposition to him
      • Hitler used propaganda to consolidate power in Germany. This brainwashed the German people into believing in Nazi policies. Hitler used cinemas effectively along with posters
      • By 1934 Hitler had created a dictatorship
