  • use BPS guidelines to ensure research is appropriate.
  • if the vulnerable person is unable to give informed consent, consent should be sought from the persons who are legally responsible or appointed to give consent on behalf.
  • parents/guardians should be informed if the participants are 16 and under, and given the right to withdraw the child's data.
  • ensure appropriate consents are obtained from any gatekeepers to participation, e.g. principals.
